Henley Freemasons Welcome the Public at Masonic Centre Open Day

The Henley Masonic Centre opened its doors to the public for a special Open Day weekend that proved both engaging and productive. The event showcased not only the beautiful Centre itself but also the wide variety of Masonic orders represented in Henley.

The real credit for organising the event goes to W. Bro. Geoff Walsh, whose efforts ensured a smooth and informative experience for all who attended. Members from several lodges based at the Henley Masonic Centre took part, donning regalia from different Masonic orders to represent the full breadth of Freemasonry in the area.
Bro. Darren Morris-Spruce and his husband Bro. David Spruce wore regalia from the Royal Ark Mariners and the Mark Master Masons, while Bro. David Miller from Round Table Thames Valley Lodge No. 9697 represented the Royal Arch. W. Bro. Geoff Walsh appeared in his Craft regalia. This visual variety sparked conversations and curiosity among visitors, offering a rare glimpse into the deeper traditions of Freemasonry.
“Wearing the different orders of regalia added, in my view, a whole new level of interaction with the public and generated a lot of interest,” said Bro. Morris-Spruce. “Several men expressed an interest in learning more about Freemasonry, and a couple of Freemasons who are relocating to Henley also asked about joining. All in all, it was a very productive event.”

Looking ahead, the team hopes to repeat the event quarterly, increasing the visibility of the Henley Masonic Centre and providing a friendly, welcoming space for the public to learn more about Freemasonry.

“Raising the visible presence of the Centre in Henley is greatly needed,” added Bro. Morris-Spruce, “and I believe this open and welcoming approach will help bring in new members for all the lodges based here.”
